I got these headphones in 1987 from a stereo store in Orland Park Illinois. They had just started carrying Revox stuff (CD players, tape players, etc.) and were going gaga over it. According to them, a huge percentage of the world's professional tape recordings were done on Revox gear. They claimed that this we were talking products that clean the Nakamichi Dragon's clock.

Well I had to agree with them with these headphones. I shelled out an amazing amount of dough for these things (like over $200) and this was on a high school budget. But, 15 years later I'm still using them, so I guess they were a good investment. The ear pads are all but destroyed now, but they sound as good as ever. I've put them up against some really high end headphones and they always come out on top or about the same; which is to say I've never heard a better headphone.

They aren't super efficient; on a portable CD player they don't go real loud. And because of their open design they make a lot of noise for the people not wearing the headphones too.

Scrounging on the web I discovered this cool blueprint for them!
