Reader Quality:
Great. Edward Herrmann, the guy from those Chrysler commercials does a fine job, especially making the beaurocratic losers sound like losers
NOTE I listened to the Abridged
HighBridge version which is
ABRIDGED. However I then read the book and quite honestly couldn't say I remember a lot missing from the tape version. There is also a new
unabridged version from Blackstone Audio but it costs a fortune!
Comments
This is a story that will either profoundly impact you or make you angry. I belong to the former category. There are some amazingly accurate descriptions of trends that have really happened in our world, such how today it is not so much what you do, as what you are (race, nationality, family background, etc.) that defines you as a person.
Even if you disagree entirely with this capitalist manifesto there's still something for everyone here. It's just a plain good novel with great suspense and narrative. Techie people will love the adoration and portrayal of technology. Plenty of Romance (though Rand's definition of good sex disturbs me a bit) and priceless desciptions and situations, like walks at night down railroad tracks with the beam of a stranded train illuminating your back.
