Well, I like Kurzweil's insight into technology but as Christian I don't buy into his belief that building a sufficiently powerful computer will make entities that have souls. Nor do I believe that if I transfer a copy of my brain somehow to a computer does my soul get copied with it. When that 'computer' opens its eyes it won't be me looking out of it.

And even from a secular belief, there's a lot of speculation by other smart people that says regardless how fast we make computers, the transition into 'HAL' might never come.
