Well Done
Uh, some rich characters, especially the main character Ignatius. He's like a more sophisticated archie bunker with some strong, strange but somehow plausible views which enable him to overlook his failures and lazyness. Ignatius jumps off the page with the details of his persona.
The story of how this story got published is almost as interesting as the story itself (and this is covered in the forward, incl on the cassette edition). The author killed himself, and I believe his mother convinced a publisher to run with the manuscript. This book got insanely good reviews; I liked it but I've got to say it was far from a literary masterpiece IMHO.
